The Clock Tower

Near the Palace of the Dukes of Alba is the Clock Tower , a square building that was built at the same time that the rest of the palace complex (1755-1766) and that is is slightly rotated in relation to the main axis. It seems that it had a low floor, two intermediate and one higher. It has a lower base of granite masonry that relies on a thicker base that forms the foundation masonry.

Its original function should be related to the fact that counted with clocks that allowed to know the time from anywhere in the Palace area. Along with this Tower bread ovens and the original Palace kitchens would be built outside the walls in prevention of possible fire following the norm of the time.
